Additional Information

Having snapped a blade in their race against Reading Rowing Club at Henley Women’s Regatta, these girls will be out for vengeance. I felt cheated of the prospect of a cracking final between Marlow and Gloucester Hartpury and I’m sure Marlow will have felt the same; they face the Canadian National silver medallists on the Friday of HRR and that race will give us a good indication of the speed of the foreign entries as well as Marlow’s speed. All the girls have received invites to GB Final Trials and I think they are one of the favourites for this event but the quality of the field is exceptional- any one of around 5 crews could take this prize in my eyes. I think they can beat Ridley but the Saturday just gets harder; they will face either Headington School, winners of J8+ at HWR and silver medallists at National Schools Regatta in CHG4x, or Shawnigan Lake School, Canadian National champions in Senior Women’s Quads.

My Prediction

I think these girls can make the Sunday but it won’t be easy. They’ve got some exceptional crews to beat before that and their Saturday race will be a fascinating one!

I am the editor of a rapidly growing blog based around the junior rowing circuit within the UK. From launch in June 2013, the website has experienced vast growth in both its reader count and view count while the article range has expanded. I currently work with a team of 10 people, all of whom voluntarily write articles for the blog. In our first year, I looked to expand from the standard previews and reviews that had gained initial success to building relationships with clubs and conducting interviews. This move proved successful and we are currently exploring new routes to further improve our platform. The blog has led to involvement with Regatta Radio, Rowing & Regatta, Row 360 and British Rowing.
