The men’s pair has been performing well at the senior level this cycle, but at the U19 and U23 levels, it’s often seen more as a developmental opportunity than a real threat to win. Despite this, these crews have shown they can compete, with last year’s men’s pair making the A-final for the first time in 17 years. Although they didn’t medal, the experience and confidence gained from reaching the top table will be invaluable in helping this year’s crew unlock their full potential.

Harvey Burford – St Edward’s School (J18)

The bow-seat of last year’s Teddies eight, which won the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta and gold in the championship eights at the National Schools’ Regatta, Harvey Burford is a seasoned veteran of schoolboy rowing. This season, he moved to the seven-seat of the St Edward’s first eight, which placed sixth in the A-final at the National Schools’ Regatta and advanced to the weekend at Henley Royal Regatta. His extensive experience and winning mentality make him a valuable asset to the pair

Fraser Burdett – King’s College School (J18)

Having made a significant leap from last season, where he competed in the Home International Regatta, he has already earned his first GB vest at the Munich Junior International Regatta this year. As the six-seat of the KCS first eight, he plays a crucial role in setting up the boat’s rhythm and power—skills that are essential in the pair. With these abilities and a gold medal from Munich in this boat class, he has the potential to take this boat far.
