As silver medalists, Great Britain will be heading to Canada with gold on the mind. This is a category where Team GB have historically excelled and this contingent of young scullers will be keen to fly the flag in all of its glory. There are no returners from last year’s boat so this will be a brand-new experience for all of the athletes.
Jimmy Harlow, The Windsor Boys School (J18)
The Windsor Boys enjoyed a stellar season and Jimmy Harlow was bow-seat of the crew that won both the National Schools’ Regatta title and the Fawley Challenge Cup. As Captain of Boats in 2024, he was ranked as the number 1 athlete in the UK at U19 level and also won championship quads at the National Schools’ Regatta in 2023. His 2024/25 plan is to take a gap year at Sydney Rowing Club before heading to the USA for university in September 2025. Hopefully he can head to Australia with world gold around his neck.
Sal Dunn, Great Marlow School (J18)
As an integral member of the Great Marlow School quad that won the Oarsport Junior Sculling Head back in March before going on to make the final of the National Schools’ Regatta and getting to within a foot of USRowing national champions, Los Gatos, at Henley Royal Regatta, Sal Dunn has had a superb season. He represented Great Britain at the Munich International Junior Regatta back in May and also raced for England last summer at the 2023 Home International Rowing Regatta.
Jerry Anderson, Marlow RC (J18)
Another athlete headed to Australia after he finishes up at the U19 world championships, Jerry Anderson is the only member of the crew who raced for Great Britain at the top junior level last summer, when he finished second at the Coupe de la Jeunesse in the quad. He also raced for Marlow this season, winning silver medals at the National Schools’ Regatta, Schools’ Head of the River and reaching the final of the Fawley Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta.
Joe Wellington, The Windsor Boys’ School (J18)
Joe Wellington raced for Great Britain last summer at U16 level and also competed at the Munich International Junior Regatta back in May. Like Jimmy in the bows, he was part of the all-conquering Windsor quad that demolished everybody throughout the summer in picking up every major honour available to them. He has been ranked as the second-fastest athlete in the country this season and aims to attend Stanford University in the USA in September 2025 after completing his A-Levels.
