After two races in the 2025 first-year ranking, it’s Nereus that leads with two wins. Tied in second place are Njord and Skoll. After starting the Winter Wedstrijd very well, Njord did not quite meet the same standard at last weekend’s Head of the River Amstel race, where they finished fourth. Skoll has been performing consistently and will look to do so again this weekend at the Heineken Roeivierkamp, aiming to move above Njord into a clear second place.
The Head of the Amstel saw a massive improvement from Laga, who didn’t get it right on their home water at the Winter Wedstrijd—going off too hard and losing pace through the middle. However, they finished narrowly ahead of Skoll at the Head, showing significant progress. How they fare over the shorter distances this coming weekend remains to be seen. We can’t forget that Laga won the indoor championships (NKIR)with a margin of nine seconds—a lot of power is going through their boat. It seems they will only perform better with more time on the water.
Nereus are the favourites going into the Heineken Roeivierkamp, which is their home race. Last weekend, they won with a gap of 36 seconds to second place. With a second weekend of home-water advantage, they will surely aim to extend their lead in the class rankings.
