2025 Heineken Roeivierkamp – Women’s Junior Quad Preview

On the 15th and 16th of March 2025, the 53rd Heineken Roeivierkamp will take place. It is an international rowing tournament held annually on the Amstel in Amsterdam. In two days, four races are rowed; one is long distance and the other is short distance.

For the junior women’s coxed quad (V18 4*), five teams will be racing. Those are SpaarneLaakDe HunzeRIC and Viking. However, four of these teams will be mixed teams (a mix of two-three other teams in one boat). Spaarne will row with AmstelLaak will be accompanied by HoopDe Hunze with Iris and Naarden and finally Viking with Willem III

Last year, in 2024, the winning team was Naarden/Beatrix, with the fastest overall time being 18:46,7. They won by a solid margin and had the lowest total points of 218.455, meaning they were most efficient across all distances (250m, 750m, 2500m and 5000m). They were the fastest at 2500m with a time of 8:44.2 and second fastest at 750m with a time of 2:44.1. Spaarne/Tromp/Pelargos and Tromp followed with considerably low overall points. Spaarne/Tromp/Pelargos finished at 19:09.4 (second place) and were fourth at 2500m but climbed to second overall. However, they were slightly slower at 750m (2:45.0, fourth place), indicating that for short distances, they may fall behind.

For the upcoming V18 4* race, both Spaarne and Viking are back, but this time in mixed teams. Based on their past results, they have the potential to perform well. Spaarne, now teaming up with Amstel, finished second in the M18 4* last year, so they could be in a strong position. On the other hand, Viking came in sixth, so they might face challenges unless Willem III brings some extra speed to the boat. De Hunze/Iris/Naarden team could also perform well, especially due to Naarden’s enormous success last year.
