After a few weeks with no racing, Boston Head is one of the first races in the New Year representing the plunge back into the head season. All the girls in this category will be striving to start their year off on the right foot, and this will result in some interesting and competitive racing.
Isle of Ely
Both crews from Isle of Ely had a good previous season, with Hayden coming 3rd in the A final of the Championship doubles at National Schools’ Regatta and then 2nd in the C final of the WJ18 singles at National Championship. Her teammate Dingwall joined her in the successful Championship Quad sculls at NSR. With this experience and strong previous season to build on, they will be competitive in this race.
Leicester
The two crews representing Leicester are both registered under the name Henry. Lauren Henry had a successful season last year, coming 1st in the WJ16 singles at National Championships. She followed this with a win in the WJ18 singles category at Henley LDS. She has obviously built on last season’s form and she is definitely one to watch out for at Boston.
Newark
Both Kane and Archer Dytch were part of the WJ16 quad that made it into the A final of National Championships, which was a good end to their WJ16 season.
Predictions
Based on previous results, I think the win will go to Leicester with crews from Isle of Ely a possibility for an upset on the day.
