British Rowing Junior Championships 2019 – Junior 16 Coxed Fours

11 crews will take to the water for this J16 coxed four category in what will surely be hotly contested races. This could be the most important race of the season for some of these boys and with a lot of the schools out of contention the medals are anyone’s for the taking.

The club that has entered the most crews is Aberdeen SRA, this is a club with a good track record and if you look at their results from this year’s National Schools Regatta this has continued. Notably with a second place in the A final of the non-Ch 4+. In this event they have entered two crews and also a composite with Eton College. They obviously have a strong programme and will be ones to watch. Especially the composite crew which includes Geffen, who was the stoke of the Eton College J16 8 that came 2nd at National Schools.

Other crews to keep an eye on will be the boys from Walton, this crew won the J164+ at National Schools this year and I’m sure they will be looking to add National Champions to their list as well. Also, the crew from Great Marlow School that came 4th in the B final in the same category, I’m sure they will be striving to improve on this result coming into this race.

Predictions

The composite crew from Aberdeen/Eton and the Walton crews will both have a fighting chance at medalling this weekend, but I think the field is open and there might be some surprises.
