He has had an extremely successful 22/23 season so far that includes wins in the J16 1x at the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta as well as the Junior Sculling Regatta, where he set a new course record. He has also been successful in the J16 2x, winning the National Schools’ Regatta and placing 3rd at the trials for the GB vs France match. Considering this repeated success, J. Ribbens looks to be in perfect form to secure a medal position.

The Grange School Rowing Club

The Grange School has put forward two boats into this event as they look to build upon their increasingly successful season in J16 sculling. The two entries, A. Farag and A. Goode have both been a part of The Grange School J16 4x that has seen repeated top 10 finishes at National Competitions this season including 4th at the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta and 5th at the National Schools’ Regatta. In the J16 1x. A. He has also raced in the open men’s 1x where he placed 4th at Nottingham city regatta and won the Championship of the Dee. These results show that A. Farag will be an extremely strong contender for the medals.

The Windsor Boys’ School Boat Club

The Windsor Boys’ School has entered three scullers into this event as they look to continue their long-running success in junior sculling. The three scullers, W. Finnis, J. Barnes and A. Elliot have had exceptionally successful seasons both in J16 boats and also racing up years in J18 boats. J. Barnes, winner of the J15 1x event last year, was in the J16 4x that were victorious at the National Schools Regatta and also the trials for the GB vs France J16 match as well as the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta. These results, combined with The Windsor Boys’ Schools reputation as one of the highest-achieving rowing schools in the country shows that J. Barnes will be a formidable opponent.

Overall, it would be impossible to predict the winners of a draw of over 50 entries however there are some standout names and clubs that will certainly be ones to look out for such as those previously mentioned along with O. Plank, M. Fullman and Z. Jenkins. This is sure to make for some extremely close and exhilarating racing.
