Chester Long Distance Sculls 2021 – WJ15 Small Boats Roundup

For many Chester LDS will be the first race back for the 2021/22 season, and for these wj15 crews- very likely to be their first head race. This race will prove a great concrete for each crew to base themselves off and build on to gain momentum for the forthcoming summer season.

Wj15 Coxed Quads

For this head only two quads have entered the draw, unusual considering the usual popularity of the j15 coxed quad. However with a season like the previous two we have endured who knows what clubs are being faced with and who has had enough water time to compete.

The first boat entered is the quad from Queen’s Park High School, this local crew will definitely have the upper hand when knowing the course as it is held in their home stretch. QPHS while having home advantage, seem to me to be the underdog, however I would be very pleased and not particularly surprised if they turned this over and took the victory.

The next quad entered is Trentham Boat Club, over the past few years this club in Stoke-On-Trent has gone from strength to strength. Their girls squad specifically gaining a huge amount of depth in the past few years. After a very successful senior squad at last seasons regattas, will this Wj15 quad use that inspiration from the older girls to beat the girls at Queen’s Park?

Wj15 Single Sculls

In the single sculls for this event four boats have been entered from two clubs, Trentham BC and Royal Chester RC. Singles are an impressive boat to master at this age and will be extremely interesting to see how they get on.

Trentham as I have previously said have the great depth and inspiration of the senior girls to push on with so will be interesting to see how they do in the singles against rivals, host of the head, Royal Chester.

Royal Chester have also had a successful summer for their up and coming junior regatta with many top placings at Brit champs and qualification for HWR if these young scullers take after their peers we are in for an extremely tight race between these girls and Trentham.
