St Paul’s School BC
St Paul’s School have entered only one crew into this fairly large category. After doing well at National Schools’ Regatta coming at 4th in the junior fourteen octuples the St Paul’s crew may be wanting get onto the podium at Hammersmith Head. St Paul’s had 2 octuples last year so it will be interesting to see if the crews have changed over the last few months.
Westminster School BC
Westminster, like most other clubs have entered one eight into this category. We can assume that this is the same eight that won junior fifteen 1st eights at the recent Hampton Head by nearly two seconds, which will mean there is to be some close racing between the crews from Westminster and Dulwich who came second at Hampton head.
Dulwich College BC
As mentioned, Dulwich College came 2nd at the recent Hampton Head just behind the crew from Westminster, so we could be in for a close race between the two. We can assume that both crews are the same but it is not completely certain due to the fact that they could have had some light change to the crew between Hampton Head and now.
Latymer Upper School BC
Latymer Upper School were able to place 6th at the National Schools’ Regatta last year in junior fourteen octuples. But at the recent Hampton Head the crew was only able to obtain a 9th place, this could be due to changes in the crew from the transition of sculling to sweep. So this crew could be attempting to get back on terms with the leaders in their category at the moment. So I am not disregarding the Latymer Upper School eight from placing high up in the standings and perhaps even on the podium.
Hampton School BC
Hampton School have entered two eights into this fairly large category and we can assume that they are the similar to the two eights that raced at Hampton head recently who placed 5th and 7th even though it is their own race and home water.
Prediction
My prediction is that the St Pauls or Westminster eight will take the win and the podium will consist of Latymer Upper School and maybe Hampton School.
