In the final race before Women’s Head and Schools Head, the Junior Women’s crews are looking to make their mark on the Tideway and battle for the win. Hammersmith Head promises a thrilling day of racing and could foreshadow the results of Women’s and School’s Heads.
Henley RC
Winners of last year’s race, Henley are looking extremely strong going into Hammersmith Head. With two boats racing and Women’s Head just around the corner, we are sure to be treated to some impressive rowing by the formidable Henley squad. Dominating at Quintin Head and Fours Head, they will be looking to replicate their wins, placing them in a strong position for the final races of head season.
St Edwards School BC
Teddies have had a really impressive start to the season with a fourth-place finish at Quintin Head. They initially struggled and finishing 10th at Fours Head but have shot up in the rankings just in time for the biggest head races of the season. Will they be the ones to take Henley’s crown?
Latymer Upper BC
Starting usually high in the draw, Latymer are aiming to cinch the win on their home stretch of the Tideway. Looking to improve on their start of the season, it will be exciting to see what they can pull out of the bag coming into Women’s and Schools Head. After some coaching changes within the squad, Latymer will want to show their depth and that they are a competitive crew.
Hinksey
Hinksey have had an impressive showing at GB trials this year demonstrating the strength and depth of the squad. With strong performances at Fours Head, we know that there is great program backing the team and it will be interesting to see how they perform against the other crews.
Predictions
Overall, I think Henley will take the win with Teddies and Hinksey following close behind. The standard of the Henley squad is extremely high and, barring injuries, there is no reason for their strong and dominant performance to end any time soon.
