Hammersmith Regatta tomorrow marks one of the first official post-Covid races, and understandably the crew roster is not teeming, many crews will still be developing and honing their skills for the upcoming National Schools Regatta. Nonetheless, there is still some stiff competition within the J16 eights category comprised of 3 St Paul’s School BC eights who will be looking to vie for the crown at Hammersmith Regatta.
Kicking off with the first heat at 14:00 St Pauls A will be racing from the Middlesex side against St Pauls C located on the Surrey side. Although not much is known about these crews it will be a good opportunity to see what St Paul’s have been working on in the long break we have had from racing. This will be one of the first opportunities for the rest of the clubs to sniff out what everyone else has been working on, how much speed they have gained or lost, and where they sit in the run up to national schools. In the second round of this category the winner of the 14:00 heat will go on to race St Pauls B who have had a buy in to the second and final round, in the 14:20 final.
Prediction – Paul’s A are the most likely to win in my opinion, but Pauls B will have fresh legs so it will be close to call.
