Hampton Head 2020 – WJ16 4x-

Head season is well underway and, as we reach the final stretch before the regatta season returns, crews are seeing the immediate benefits of the winter training block. Hampton Head, a 3000m long course, is an opportunity for crews to showcase the progress they have made since September.

Sir William Perkins School Rowing Club (M O’DONNELL)

This crew saw success at British Rowing Junior Championships 2019, placing 4th after a very close race for the top three spots. Their achievement at British Rowing Junior Championships shows that this crew have the ability to fight for the win and can pull together to row a very fast boat.

Tideway Scullers (KEMP)

Tideway Scullers saw a win in the B final at British Rowing Junior Championships and are usually known to be up to a high technical standard and are viewed as fierce competition. Freya Lovric-Kemp and her crew have seen much success, with a win at Junior Sculling Head 2019; this crew could potentially challenge for the medal position at this race.

Maidenhead Rowing Club (CARPENTER)

Although not racing as a quad, two of the girls in this crew have seen significant success, winning British Rowing Junior Championships in a double in 2019, and then taking home a win at Pairs Head as a WJ16 2x. With a history of success in this boat, there is potential for this crew to manage to bring home the medal at Hampton Head.

Predictions

I think that this draw presents a very strong set of crews, and therefore I believe that this race could go in any direction; however, after looking at the crews, it appears that Maidenhead have a strong potential to come out on top. Good luck to all those racing this weekend.
