Hampton Head 2023 – Junior Men’s Preview Round Up

With the Head race season now in full swing and the return of eights racing also making a comeback, this Saturday’s Hampton Head will provide an excellent opportunity for many club and school programmes to evaluate the success of their winter training regimes against their competitors. It will also be intriguing to see which faces emerge as potential favourites for later in the season as the buzz of regatta season hits.

Junior 15 Men’s Eight

King’s College School are looking to be likely favourites after securing second place last weekend at Quintin Head- clearly indicating the strong potential of this crew for the rest of the season. Chasing them up for the win and giving them that added pressure will come from the likes of Westminster School BC and Radley College BC of whom came only one second apart at Quintin. This will be another battle to watch play out down the Hampton stretch.

Junior 16 Men’s Eight

Following up last weekend’s racing at Quintin Head, moving forward to this Saturday it is only fair to predict King’s College School for the win at the 2023 edition of Hampton Head. This will likely be followed up by the likes of St Edward’s (the next highest placing crew at Quintin) but these crews will definitely need to keep an eye out for the likes of Hampton School who will be giving it their all to defend themselves and put up a strong fight on their home water.

Junior 18 Men’s Eight

After their remarkable Henley campaign last year, taking the advantage over their competitors this weekend by a country mile is being put down to Kings College School. Following up on recent performances, we can predict Abingdon will be taking second with Hampton hot on their heels, chasing for a top time at their home race.

Junior 18 Men’s Quad

The crews from Tideway Scullers, Lea RC, Henley, and Claire’s Court all seem to be well-matched so it will be eagerly anticipated as to how this weekend’s results will turn out. With Tideway’s 2021 win in the Fawley Challenge Cup and Claire’s Court also having taken this in recent years, the strength of their sculling programmes will have these two crews battling for the top spot.
