Unfortunately, the Hampton Small Boats Head event has been cancelled due to the poor weather conditions we have had over the past couple of weeks. The river is flowing too high and fast for safe racing and Hampton have said that there will be a 100% refund on all entry fees.
Despite the cancellation, we thought we would bring you some crews that we thought might do well and some crews that are likely to perform well at events in the coming months. It’s been hard to find any results from recent events but the history and pedigree that these clubs have meant that they were high on our list.
Henley Rowing Club
Henley Rowing Club were due to have two crews racing and are likely to have performed well over the 3000m course. The scullers have been working hard at their endurance over the past few weeks and would have been looking forward to gaining some more racing experience at the head race.
Marlow Rowing Club
Another top rowing club who would have been very near the top of the timesheet. The J16’s have trained hard during the past months and were hoping to really push on with an impressive performance this weekend. They will look to use this as motivation as they continue their brutal training program.
Molesey Boat Club
Molesey Boat Club is one of the most established rowing clubs in the country and were therefore one of the favorites for this event. The J16 athletes have been training hard and will be disappointed not to have some results to back up their hard work.
Hampton School Boat Club
Racing at their home event, Hampton School Boat Club would have been hoping to impress on their home stretch of water. They will have to wait until February the 1st when they host another Head race. They will have their fingers crossed for some better weather!
It’s a shame that the event has been canceled after months of training for these young athletes. They will get back on the ergo and hope that water levels drop so they can all get back out on the water soon.
