Hampton Small Boats head is just around the corner, racing on Saturday 3rd December over 3km of beautiful river in Surrey. This year the J18 pairs event features five entries from two clubs.
Emanuel School
Based on the world-famous tideway, Emanuel School shows their depth as a squad entering four pairs into this event, no doubt some of them aspiring trialists. Emanuel school has often been a successful sweep squad in both head and regatta seasons, often placing both girl’s and boy’s boats into A finals at NSR.
Walton RC
Walton RC, obviously being a smaller squad, only enter one crew into this event. Last regatta season saw their girl’s sweep squad perform best placing their champ coxless four 5th overall at NSR, other notable results include the boys four winning the B final placing them 7th overall only two seconds behind Pangbourne School who placed last in the A final of the event.
Predictions
Although neither club is a stand-out favourite, Emanuel school will no doubt have more depth as a squad and are likely to take the headship in this event come Saturday.
