Hampton Small Boats Head held on the 3rd of December is one of the last Junior Head races of the winter season and many crews look to leave their mark as we enter the spring season. With experienced crews from Marlow and Tideway Scullers to name a few, we can expect close margins and fierce competition this weekend.
Marlow RC
Marlow has a history of success in England and is a well-established club, they have been known to produce some very fast crews, especially in the quad. They also come from afar compared to the other more local clubs and must clearly be a crew that they believe can challenge the competition.
Tideway Scullers School
Tideway Scullers have shown us that they are one to watch following a victory at Teddington Head with a 26-second lead over the next fastest crew from Molesey. The club itself is known for its ability in sculling and has shown serious promise leading up to the race.
Walton RC
Walton has had a successful winter season as a club with seven wins at Kingston SBH a few weeks back including the J16 quad following a successful season I am sure that they are looking to end the season on a high and are competing for that top spot.
Kingston Grammar School
Kingston Grammar School has been successful in the past and I’m sure that they have been working hard to catch up with Walton who had edged them out at Kingston SBH by 7 seconds. This weekend will be a show of their dedication and to lay down a marker of their speed entering the next season.
Team Keane
Team Keane was a mere 0.3 seconds slower than Kingston Grammar School at Kingston SBH and much like Kingston has been working over the past few weeks to close the gap between themselves and Walton, their similarity in speed to Kingston will lead to some interesting racing this weekend having been drawn in between two Kingston Crews.
Other racing Crews
Crews from Lea RC, Twickenham RC, Henley RC and Kew House School have all entered but with little racing done this half, we look to see what they can do this Saturday.
Predictions
1.Tideway Scullers
2.Marlow RC
3.Walton RC
