Head of the Trent 2023 – Women’s Quads Preview

This weekend, Nottingham will see an influx of athletes to race over 5500 meters on the Trent river. With fair but cloudy conditions, we see a perfect set up for highly competitive racing in the women’s quads. With minimal entries, we still have good competition making it an exciting race.

Band 1

Unfortunately, there is only one crew entered into Band 1. A Start programme composite crew, consisting of Nottingham RC, Strathclyde Park RC, Agecroft RC and Leeds University BC. These girls will be well used to rowing in crews together with the Start camps which are often held down at Holme Pierrepont. Even though they are only racing time, I am certain they will want to set down a strong time and even pick out some bigger crews they wish to beat.

Band 2

For Band 2, we have the Bedford Modern School against a composite of Warrington and Hollingworth Lake. Although only School age, Bedford Modern has a history of strong, sharp girls and have been competitive at major events such as Henley Royal Regatta. Warrington and Hollingworth Lake, again have also had competitive girls come through and will be wanting to take home the win.

Prediction

I believe the Band 1 Start composite will go home with the fastest time. Followed by The Bedford Modern School and Warrtington/Hollingworth Lake. As said before, although low on number, high on quality which will make for some interesting racing. Good luck ladies!
