Additional Information
We all know about Headington’s dominance in the junior women’s eight category; their sixth consecutive victory in CHG8+ at the National Schools Regatta was a remarkable achievement and a tribute to the fantastic system in place. Their preparation for HRR has been relatively disrupted with a few injuries and illnesses but Ryan Demaine has settled on a crew combination to move forward with and their performance at the National Schools Regatta, with very little preparation beforehand, will give them great hope. They are a very powerful unit although they do weigh a stone per girl less than Gloucester Hartpury. Their race against Shawnigan Lake School, Canada will be fantastic- it will be good to see the standard of Canadian crews in comparison to that of the top-end British crews.
My prediction
I have a sneaking feeling that Headington will beat Shawnigan- the Saturday is where I see them. I’ll update after Friday on my prediction.
About The Author
JuniorRowingBlogger
I am the editor of a rapidly growing blog based around the junior rowing circuit within the UK. From launch in June 2013, the website has experienced vast growth in both its reader count and view count while the article range has expanded. I currently work with a team of 10 people, all of whom voluntarily write articles for the blog. In our first year, I looked to expand from the standard previews and reviews that had gained initial success to building relationships with clubs and conducting interviews. This move proved successful and we are currently exploring new routes to further improve our platform. The blog has led to involvement with Regatta Radio, Rowing & Regatta, Row 360 and British Rowing.
