Henely Long Distance Sculls 2018 – WJ18 Quads

Much like many other of these early head races, Henley Long Distance Sculls is a good opportunity to gain racing experiences over the longer courses. The WJ18 4x- category will be raced by Henley Rowing Club, City of Bristol Rowing Club, Queen Anne’s Boat Club, Evesham Rowing Club, Globe Rowing Club, Royal Grammar School Worcester Boat Club and American School Boat Club.

Henley Rowing Club

This club has had their usual good start to the season in the quads category. One of the first events of the season was Wallingford Long Distance Sculls where Henley managed to achieve the win before they also secured a victory at the Fours Head. They have to come into this event as favourites.

Evesham Rowing Club

Evesham have already been competing in the women’s quads category this season; a crew raced at Wallingford Long Distance Sculls where they finished sixth from eight entered crews but close to the tails of the fifth-placed unit. These performances will be developing through the initial head races as the confidence in competition develops alongside.

Royal Grammar School Worcester Boat Club

At Wallingford Long Distance Sculls, a crew was entered into the women’s J18 quads category with Little once again in the bow seat. This experience in steering will aid their performance because of the large bend that will need to be navigated. However, this crew finished seventh from eight crews at the aforementioned so it will be interesting to see whether they can summon the necessary reserves of power for this race.

American School in London

This club has not seen any notable achievements so far this season. The sculling crews from the senior squad, including crews in the WJ18 and WJ16 quad categories, have recorded last place finishes at Wallingford Long Distance Sculls and so we wouldn’t expect the American School in London to be reaching in this event. Fancy proving us wrong?
