Over a stretch of around 3k, the JW16 8+ ‘s will race against either Henley or Headington. With three crews entered into this category, it’ll be a early decider between Henley and Headington, although a lot can change over the course of these next few months.
Headington
Headington have entered two eights, HED – STEEL and HED – TAIT. Both these crews seem to include J15s, that either had success in the J14 girls quad or octo’s last year at National Schools. This is the first time Headington have entered into separate age categories this season (normally they’ve entered into the J18 category, allowing for mixed age group crews), so it’ll be interesting to see how they’ve selected their crews now. Considering the previous crews have been mixed, Headington haven’t had that much success, so hopefully taking a more selected crew forward will help them in their favour.
Henley
Henley have entered one eight into the JW16 category. Last year Henley had huge success winning their J15 8+, J16 8+ and Champ 8+, and we’ll definitely be seeing a few from the J15 8+ last year into this years J16 8+. Like Headington, Henley will have gone through trials to select these crews, so chances are we’ll see a faster crew than in previous races.
Predictions
Both these crews are highly competitive, and will strive towards to win. It’s hard to say who’ll do best, considering there are only two clubs entered.
