The 2023 Henley fours and eights head will be raced over approximately 3000m and will also largely be on the Henley Royal Regatta course. This event serves as a perfect way to gain experience on the Henley course before the highly anticipated regatta.
Marlow Rowing Club
Marlow have entered one of the three J16 crews competing this year and it is a first for them at this event, however, they have previously performed well over this distance; coming 7th at Junior Sculling Head in the j15 quad last season which, considering the time they have had to build upon this result puts them in a good place for this event.
Royal Grammar School High Wycombe Boat Club
RGS High Wycombe BC has also entered just one crew for this event and, like Marlow RC, did not compete here last year but they were also at Junior Sculling Head where they finished a very respectable 31st, however with the time they have had to train they will be looking to close the gap on the rest of the field and potentially come out on top.
Henley Rowing Club
The final entry to this event is last year’s winner: Henley. They will be looking to repeat the victory and, with the race being on their own course, they will have a slight advantage over the rest of the field as they look for the win.
Prediction
Despite all three competitors being strong, I predict it will be remarkably close between Henley RC and Marlow RC, with Marlow RC just taking the win.
