Henley Fours and Eights will take place on Saturday the 11th of February. There are limited entries in the W16 8+ category this year with only 2 crews attending. Marlow Rowing Club and Henley Rowing Club. They will perhaps end up competing side by side in regatta fashion along the 3000-metre course from Greenlands upstream to the Henley Royal Regatta finish.
Marlow Rowing club
Currently, Marlow RC is standing at the top end of the WJ16 category having placed 1st and 2nd at Wallingford HoR and 2nd at Quintin Head in the Eight. They also won the J15 4+ and came 5th in the J15 8+ at the National Schools’ Regatta last year which will reflect on this year’s J16 squad performance even though crews are bound to have changed slightly. These solid results display the strength of Marlow Rowing Club across the board so far this season. They could be the ones to beat Henley this weekend even though Henley has the advantage of racing on home turf.
Henley Rowing Club
Although the Henley WJ16 has been rather elusive at events so far this season, they are a club known for their high standard of rowing and top-tier sweep results so they definitely have a chance to take the top spot. Additionally, racing on their home stretch means being accustomed to steering this course and the usual conditions of the river.
Predictions
I think that considering their array of solid results recently, Marlow RC will come first and Henley RC will follow closely behind taking second place.
