Henley Fours & Eights Head 2022- Women’s and Junior 16 Quads

Henley Four’s and Eight’s head is the time for fours and eights crews who are willing to give the Henley sculls course their time to give the course a crack. The first half of the course will prove to be a challenging for the larger boats which will require a good racing line in order not to bleed speed, until the famous Henley straight, after which it will be a test of who can put down the most power the longest period of time, for some it will be their first taste of the course, for other it will be an example of what’s to come.

Sir William Borlase’s (SWB): Bennett – (39),  Browning – (169), Blackbourn – (43):

Sir Williams Borlase’s is a relatively successful club in rowing circles and tends to do reasonably well usually coming near to the top in most of the races they enter, And at Hampton Small Boats Head, Crew; Bennett – (39) places 8th , and impressive performance, unfortunately the other crews didn’t favour as well placing lower down the ranks, however it looks like there has been a shift in the boat order, and most likely there has been a change to other things as well and maybe Sir William Borlase’s will clean up here.

Henley Rowing Club (HEN): Daly – (40), Simpson – (42)

Henley rowing club is one of the most prestigious clubs in the country, and being stablemates with Leander, they are seen as on the most successful female clubs on the tideway. This is their home stretch and Crew; Daly – (40), having placed 15th at Hampton small boats head, they will be looking to, and the other crew surely will be looking for the same thing here.

My Predictions are:

  1. Sir William Borlase’s (SWB) – Bennett – (39)
  2. Henley Rowing Club (HEN) – Daly   – (40)
  3. Sir William Borlase’s (SWB) – Browning – (169)

Female:

Sir William Borlase’s (SWB): Sharma– (257), McDonnell – (259):

Sir William Boralse’s has entered two crews into the female category, and despite their reputation, unfortunately these crews did not fare well in previous events, with one of their boats placing 15th at Hampton Small Boats Head. However, it is likely that that with a change in order they will be looking to try and challenge Surbiton high school and provide some hard racing down the course.

Surbiton High School (SBT):  Boat A – (256), Boat B – (258):

Surbiton High School isn’t necessarily known for their rowing, however these two crews have been successful in the UK circuit thus far, with their A boat placing 1st in Hampton small boats head and their B boat placing 12th, Surbiton High will want to ensure that both their A and B boat do well, and will want to exert their dominance at this race, with their A boat possibly looking for a course Record.

My Predictions are:

  1. Surbiton High School (SBT) – Boat A – (256)
  2. Surbiton High School (SBT) – Boat B – (258)
  3. Sir William Borlase’s (SWB) – Sharma– (257)
