Henley LDS – J16 2x Preview

This year’s Henley Long Distance J16 2x event promises a great day of racing with 15 crews from a number of high-performing clubs and schools, battling it out over 3km of beautiful river, at the heart of British Rowing, Henley-on-Thames.

Norwich RC

Norwich’s J16’s recently performed well at the Norfolk Sculls Head with their J16 single sculler getting the 4th fastest time of the day. 

Wallingford RC

Wallingford RC are entering two crews into this event, they performed similarly well in the J16 category recently winning the J16 single sculls event at BRJC.

Henley RC

Henley RC, one of GB rowing’s high performance clubs, enters two crews into this event. Although their mens J15 / 16s have not had much success at recent regattas their women’s squad have had a number of very good performances recently.

City of Bristol RC

Bristol’s juniors performed very well at BRJC over the summer, reaching a number of A and B finals in a variety of events. Although these results do not include their mens J16 squad, their junior squad is clearly strong and we can expect a good performance come Saturday.

Guildford RC

Guildford Rowing Club put in a good performance in the J16 2x event at BRJC finishing 6th in the B final against a number of high performing clubs, including Hinksey Sculling School who will compete against them on Saturday.

Hinksey Sculling School 

Hinksey Sculling School performed well in the J16 2x event at BRJC, coming 2nd in the B final only 9 seconds behind Rob Roy BC. 

Itchen Imperial RC

Itchen rowing club recently performed well in a number of mens and womens J16 events at the Itchen Junior Regatta on the 24th October, winning the J16 single scull, 4th in the J16 double and 2nd in the novice double.

Lymington Amateur RC

Lymington Amateur have had recent success with their J16 squad at the Itchen Junior Regatta winning the J16 and WJ16 2x events in adverse conditions.

Other crews to watch

Royal Grammar School – High Wycombe BC are entering two doubles and Radnor House enters one.
