Henley LDS – J18 4x Preview

Henley Sculls is the first of two heads to run on the famed stretch of the Thames this winter, with over 500 crews entered to compete along the 3km course. J18 4x- is a small category with only 5 crews entered from 4 clubs.

Leander Club

The club with the home advantage and probably the strongest entry, Leander should field an impressive crew. A number of athletes have joined the club from Wallingford Rowing Club’s NSR 5th place quad last season. They will join any returners from Leander’s successful Henley crew to form what undoubtedly represents the fastest entry in this category.

Great Marlow School Boatclub

Loretto is the name under which the crew is entered and he raced in the school’s champ 4- entry at NSR, making the A final. If the rest of the crew is the same then this entry should have some decent speed.

Stowe Sculling School

A club not often seen on the racing circuit, Stowe has two quads entered into the event. Its good to see a range of clubs entered into events and it’ll provide members of the school with some invaluable racing experience.

Kings School Worcester

Rendall-Baker raced as part of the school’s 2nd 4x last season. This crew could be made up of a mixture of athletes from last season 1st and 2nd 4x’s which both made their respective B finals at last year’s NSR.

Prediction –

1st Leander Club

2nd Great Marlow School Boatclub

3rd Kings School Worcester
