Henley Women’s Regatta 2022 – Junior Sculling Singles, Sunday

Quarter finals:

Agecroft vs Tideway Scullers Sch

Both crews had some steering issues in this race, but it was Agecroft that ended up pushing ahead by two lengths before the barrier marker. This was a very convicing lead for the quarter finals and she will advance to the next round in a comfortable position.

Trentham BC vs Reading Blue Coat Sch

This was another race with a big margin, Meg Knight had a very convincing lead by the halfway marker and was rowing very well as she came past the boating pontoons. She maintained this lead as she came across the line.

Hartpury College vs Marlow

It was the sculler from Hartpury that had the better start and gained ground on her competition from Marlow as they moved away from the island. This lead was consistently maintained throughout the race and she walked away with the win.

Marlow vs Durham School

This was a tighter race from the beginning, with not much in it from the start. It was the sculler from Marlow who had the slight edge and as they came past the spectator area she had managed to increase it to about two lengths.

Semi Finals:

Agecroft vs Trentham:

It was the sculler rom Trentham who had the decisive win in this semi-final. She came out of the blocks and immediately took the lead and just continued to extend it throughout the whole race, crossing the line first for an undeniable win.

Hartpury College vs Marlow

Another Hartpury/Marlow race and it was a very close one. There was nothing in it by the barrier and with each stroke the lead was passed over. Marlow put in a push to try and make up the slight difference in distance between them and it was almost enough as she pulled back so the lead was only half a length. It was the Hartpury sculler that stormed across the line first, but this was an excellent display of junior sculling.

Final:

Trentham vs Hartpury College :

Both these scullers have been very impressive this weekend, and thye seemed to be evenly matched as they lined up to the start line. Coming past the spectator area they were neck and neck but it was the sculler from Trentham that started to pull ahead. She continued this lead and lengthened out every stroke to stride across the line first.
