Henley Women’s Regatta 2022 – Junior Women’s Doubles Preview

Henley women’s regatta is back for another year and in full force. This year we see an astonishing 31 crews entered  for the battle for the Rayner Cup. On the back of an amazing national schools in May, we’re up for a cracker.

Shiplake College

The recently renowned college to have bolstered an incredible Junior women’s programme. We see the quad, coxed four and this strong and technical double entered into this weekend from Shiplake. After a bronze medal finish at NSR, the crew of Maya Jackson and Megan Hadfield have a lot to prove this weekend if Shiplake want to succeed in their 3 events that they have entered.

Peterbrough

The two highly renowned World Class Start athletes of Ella Darrington and Devonne Piccaver set to build from their top 6 finish at NSR last May. Ella Darrington, the ex Rob Roy sculler has achieved an exceptional amount as a young junior, contemplating her acceptance onto the prestigious programme. I’m expecting a shock result this weekend as these WCS coaches are known for producing prominent crews within a short amount of time.

Sir William Perkins School

Based in Surrey, Sir William Perkins set to take this category by storm this weekend. After a close battle with Tideway for the Gold at NSR, these girls have every right for a chance to get their hands on the Rayner Cup this weekend. A time of 7:28 over the 2k course is truly astonishing for a Junior women’s double.

Tideway Scullers School

Rowing on the fluctuating conditions on the Tideway, Orla Harvey and Alice McCarthy were the champions of the Breyl Crockford Bowl last May at the prestigious NSR. With this outstanding achievement they will have all the confidence in the world to get the better of the likes of SWP and Shiplake.

Prediction

Basing my past result research off the National Schools Regatta, I feel that this would be the most accurate Prediction I can make for this weekend.

1st – Tideway Scullers School

2nd – Sir William Perkins

3rd – Peterbrough
