The third iteration of this event, with the previous two won by domestic and international boats apiece. This year, with a six-boat entry after Leander ‘A’ pulled out, the title will be staying at home – but whose boathouse will have the honour of displaying it?
Aberdeen University and Robert Gordon University
A young crew to watch out for. Although I do not expect this boat to be lifting the trophy on the Sunday, I think they may take a few by surprise with their speed. There are a couple of junior national champions on-board alongside Abigail Topp, who competed for Great Britain at the Junior World Championships in 2019.
Leander Club ‘B’
After Leander ‘A’ withdrew, the second boat from the Pink Palace are now in with a real shot at glory. Several crew members have senior international racing expeience at both the 2018 and 2019 World Championships. Leander tend to fare well at this level and the club know what it takes to win at the highest level.
The Tideway Scullers School
A combination outfit from various crews who have performed well through the season. Members of this boat have won titles at Marlow, HWR, junior trials and the Home International Regatta. They’re unlikely to unseat Leander at the front of the pack but are a dangerous club crew.
Prediction
Hard to see past Leander for this one. TSS to join them in the final.
