The Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) and JRN are excited to announce their partnership for the 122nd IRA National Championship that will be held in Camden, NJ on May 30th-June 1st, 2025. JRN’s aptitude for creating engaging content around all aspects of the sport aligns with the IRA’s recent efforts to expand access and event coverage of the regatta. We look forward to introducing the IRA’s audience to the JRN team and welcoming their international audience and future collegiate athletes to this historic event.
“We are thrilled to be working alongside the IRA National Championship in 2025,” said Tom Morgan, Founder of JRN. “This is one of the world’s premier rowing events and it will be a privilege to cover all the racing lakeside in our bid to expand and enhance global rowing coverage. Our podcasting division – which began during the COVID-19 lockdown – has grown to cover numerous key narratives across the world, and we look forward to bringing the best of that capability to the Cooper River at the end of May.”
Recorded live on-site at the course and starting with Friday’s preliminary heats, Fergus Mainland and Tom Morgan will host daily video debriefs that will include post-race analysis, interviews with top athletes and coaches, and a preview of the following days racing. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday’s recaps will all be available to watch for free (no subscription required) on Overnght, the IRA’s official streaming partner, shortly after recording for the day has concluded.
IRA Commissioner Laura Kunkemueller affirmed the IRA’s enthusiasm around the partnership and said “We are excited to work with JRN to expand coverage of the IRA Championships. Along with our other media partners Overnght, row2k, and Rowing News, JRN will highlight stories behind the racing and add context to the race results. We look forward to engaging IRA fans through this new outlet.”

ABOUT THE INTERCOLLEGIATE ROWING ASSOCIATION
Dating back to its founding in 1894, the Intercollegiate Rowing Association has consistently sought to celebrate the best of men’s collegiate rowing. As host of the nation’s oldest collegiate national championship, the IRA crowns heavyweight national champions in four events, culminating in the James Ten Eyck Memorial Trophy that is awarded to the overall team points winner, and lightweight national champions in three events. Women’s lightweight rowing was added to the regatta in 1997 with three events and in 2022, a Division 3 championship was added with two events. Operating independently of the NCAA, the IRA has embraced its commitment to its 65 member schools and the student-athletes and coaches who represent them and looks forward to another year of fast, competitive racing.
