In their distinctive kit of black, green, red and white, Inverness rowing club, founded in 1988, is based on the Caledonian Canal in Inverness, which is believed to be the best rowing water in Scotland. They are believed to have around 50 members ranging from strong juniors to experienced masters. The club itself runs 2 of the largest head races in Scotland, which gets many attendees for Scotland’s athletes.
Stand out results from Inverness in junior rowing includes Heather Gordon reaching the quarter-finals in a composite coxed four at Henley women’s regatta, then proceeding onto the home internationals where she represents Scotland to come home for a win the coxless four near enough a year later she won gold in a composite coxless four at brit champs back in 2019. As I know of, there has not been any other junior success that is recent to this date. But heather Gordon seems to be a big prospect for Scottish rowing in the future.
The club has recently started to develop their boathouse with extra boat storage, training areas and an erg room. If this development goes ahead, this will develop Inverness further and hopefully become more noticed in the junior, and the wider rowing scene.
If you are interested in rowing or just experienced and recently moved to Inverness, this club seems like the one for you as the club lets any ability through the doors of its boathouse.
