Itchen Imperial Rowing Club

Founded in 1916, Itchen Imperial is a coastal rowing club located in Southampton. Rowing on the River Itchen, they compete in the Hants and Dorset Amateur Rowing Association and take part in regattas across the south coast.

The club has a large set of equipment, with a big coastal fleet as well as a growing fleet of river boats.

Itchen Imperial has had great success at inland rowing events including a recent win in the senior open coxed fours at the south coast championships, the junior ladies championship title for Hants and Dorset, and a win in the men’s junior pair at Deal regatta. In recent years they have also competed at Henley Royal Regatta, with the Cracknell brothers taking on the silver goblets and nickels, have achieved a win in the championship coxless pairs at the metropolitan regatta, and have won six of the last ten senior championship at the south coast championships, winning the infamous ‘bowl’.

Itchen has seen many talents, with the Cracknell brothers, as well as James Foad, who won bronze in the 2012 Olympics with the GB men’s eight. The club however still facilitates those on a less competitive level, and strives for inclusiveness and giving the ability to achieve whatever you set out for. Whether it’s to be the next Olympic medal winner, or simply to get in shape, Itchen Imperial has the facilities and support to help you get there.
