Junior 15 Coxed Quads

The A final of last year’s Junior 15 quads was one of the more surprising results.  Whilst the crews from Henley cleaned up with the double for the first and second quads last year, it meant Tideway, Windsor and Molesey all missed out.  Once again, the huge pool of boats entering this category makes it highly competitive.  It’s going to be difficult to judge if we’ll see a Tideway dominant performance or if we’ll see a surprise crew take the top spot.

Tideway Scullers A

Tideway, who are now considered amongst the best when regarding junior rowing, have consistently proved themselves as the dominant force in this category throughout this season.   After a convincing win from the A crew at the Junior Sculling Head back in March, it remained to be seen if the staggering 00:06:27 of their second lap could be repeated in the later Junior Sculling Regatta.  Sure enough it was; after a dead heat putting pressure on the crew in the time-trials, they used their confidence and finesse to pull off a deserved win.  However, could a change of personnel throw off the crew’s dominance?

Tideway Scullers B

A crew who, after the 11th place finish at the Junior Sculling Head, were ruled out by the top quads for the Junior Sculling Regatta.  How wrong they were!  After a hugely impressive 4th in the time trials it remains to be seen if two Tideway crews can be on the podium.

Windsor Boys A

After bringing home the silverware from Bedford Regatta for the second year in a row in this category, you would be naive to rule out this well polished crew.  The crew had managed to take a medal at the Junior Sculling Regatta, bettering their 6th place finish at the earlier Junior Sculling Head.   The crew certainly will want to repeat the result from Bedford and will be pushing the Tideway-based crews.

Sir William Borlase Grammar School BC

This boat requires no introduction, after proving themselves at JSR and JSH as one of the finest crews of the category.  After managing to dead heat with Tideway’s A crew in the time trials of the Junior Sculling Regatta, the line-up remains unchanged, surely meaning they have an advantage over Scullers.

Walton RC

Certainly another crew worth mentioning after their respectable performance saw them picking up 5th place at JSR.  However, it’s absence at JSH has left it unclear as to if this was a strong performance for the crew or if it really should be challenging at the top.

Overall, I predict;  1st Tideway A, 2nd Sir William and 3rd Windsor Boys.  However, if we go off last years results I wouldn’t be surprised to see Walton or Tideway B taking home a medal.
