With Munich Regatta robbing some of the top clubs of their best athletes for this racing rich weekend, the Ch2x field is open and it may come down to do who wants it the most this Saturday.
Walton Rowing Club
Walton RC’s J18 squad, more commonly known as the ‘Walton Watt Farmers’ on Instagram, are part of a club that is known for its pedigree within the smaller boats. Whether this double has been affected by any Munich selection will be shown on Saturday but it is entirely plausible that a couple of ‘Watt farmers’ may emerge from this wide-open race with the gold medal.
Windsor Boys School Boat Club
The obvious favourite would be the double that has emerged from the dominant Windsor Boys School Boat Club. The name the double has been entered under is ‘Shewell’ who is a talented sculler that was a member of the National Schools and Henley Royal Regatta winning quad last year, it is likely he has progressed further and this makes this double a major contender for the win.
Henley Rowing Club
Setting off 10-20 seconds behind them but hoping to finish closer will be the double entered from Henley RC. This features Ethan O’Connor who has earned a GB uni from his time in the J16 double at the GBvsFrance match. He is also a member of the fast-moving J18 Henley quad and this double would be expected to be competitive within this weakened field.
Some Honourable Mentions
Lea has been a force to be reckoned with in Junior Rowing for a long time. They are fairly competitive in the junior quads and this half of the lea musketeers may snatch a surprisingly high result due to the Munich selection. Hinksey Sculling School has entries in many events this year and although they are somewhat of an unknown quantity they may have a good race and come away with a high placing result.
My Predictions:
1st Place: Windsor Boys School
2nd Place: Henley Rowing Club
3rd Place: Walton Rowing Club
