Junior Sculling Regatta 2022 – Women’s Junior 15 Coxed Quads

For many juniors, this will be their first regatta of the year or perhaps even of their career, and it’s a big one. After most of the season being heavily scaled back last year, this is very likely to be these young girls first time trial followed by 2km side by side race. It will be interesting to see how each crew perform in the run up to national schools and British championships this year. Here are some crews to keep an eye on…

Henley rowing club

As always Henley have a strong showing, as they do at most national events. These girls will be getting in the swing of racing now and I expect them to be a very top placing crew at this event. Following the success of their older crews recently these girls are certain to make a showing.

Surbiton high school

As they often do, Surbiton have a huge squad travelling to this event, with 6 WJ15 Quads, we are certain to see some strong performances, inspired by the recent success of their senior girls. The ability to field 6 quads really is testament to the large program they run making a competitive atmosphere. It will be excited to see how each of their quads will end up staking up against the rest of the quads in the event.

Sir William Perkins’s school

Alongside Surbiton, Perkins have a large field of quads in this event, with four boats entered it will also be interesting to see how they stack up. The older girls at Perkins have had increasing success in recent years so will be ones to watch now and in the future.

Headington school

Finally, another crew to watch will be Headington, with a highly well known program there is no doubt these Headington girls will be hungry for the win at Dorney this weekend. Headington have always been a huge forefront of junior girls rowing and their younger girls are following in their footsteps. Therefore based on this and previous results, I believe that these Headington girls are definitely a crew to watch.

Overall I believe the top placing crews will come from Perkins, Henley, Headington and Surbiton. However some very strong crews from Claire’s Court, Great Marlow School, Bedford and Molesey. And I am happy to be proven wrong and I anticipate an exciting race.
