With a start to the season that would have been unwanted but not unexpected by many, Muckross provides the opportunity for many crews to test whether the winter miles put in so far this year have yielded the speed they desire or whether it’s back to the drawing board to bridge the gap between crews. With nine entries, we are sure to see a hotly contested race as crews compete tenaciously.
Muckross Rowing Club A
A highly competitive event is set to take place this Saturday, featuring the Muckross A crew. With Eva Stack positioned at bow and Khim Fleming in the stroke seat, the quad will be battling it out this season, particularly after narrowly missing the podium at the championships in July, where they finished in fourth place. This crew shows great potential, as two of its members were part of last year’s top quad.
Muckross Rowing Club B
Muckross B is another strong crew fielded by the hosting club. Aine O’Sullivan, who previously competed in the fourth-place quad in July, is also part of this crew. These two Muckross quads are set to compete fiercely for victory at their own head. But who will win?
Skibbereen Rowing Club
After securing the tankard in July this year, can Skibbereen reclaim the championship title once again? With a completely new crew of girls stepping into the role, will they be able to maintain their success this year?
Killorglin
Will this year see Killorglin advance from their third-place finish in July? With three of the four girls—Sadhbh O’Sullivan in the stroke position, Fia O’Gorman in the three seat, and Chloe O’Sullivan in the two seat—this crew demonstrates considerable strength and has been consistently training for such events from the beginning of the season.
Prediction
In conclusion I think that Muckross A or B will take the win as they are consistent in the quad category paired with the fact they have the home water advantage, and both crews will be closely followed by Killorglin and Skibbereen.
