Once again, we have the Championship singles events on the Sunday, and this year, as ever, promises to be full of tight racing. With few of these athletes having raced each other directly, it will be interesting to see where the athletes come out, especially with many racing in the championship quad event on the Saturday.
Chester le Street – Adamson
After last year winning the time trial – almost unexpectedly – finishing 5th, as well as attending Junior Worlds as a J17 in the double, Joseph Adamson should be looking to win this year’s event. His success has continued into this year, finishing second fastest under 20 at the GB first assessment, then going on to compete in a GB under 23 composite at Reading University Head. Adamson should be a strong contender.
Windsor Boys School – Van Gelderen
Another athlete who competed in the A final last year, Julian Van Gelderen is a J17, who won the Early ID assessment, and in the past weekend is competing for GB in the single at the European Junior Rowing Championship, meaning that he will have plenty of speed. Van Gelderen and Adamson won the OJ19 2x at Brit champs this year, meaning should be some friendly competition here.
Rob Roy – Taylor
After winning Wallingford regatta by 20 seconds, Taylor has stated his claim to the title by winning imperiously, showing he is here for business.
Leander – Milne
After a move from Glasgow to Leander Club, Milne will be looking to improve upon his 9th place finish last year. A former GB France participant, Milne has plenty of experience, and should capitalise upon this.
There are plenty more participants present, and everything could change on the day – especially with a slight crosswind. Will be predicting an Adamson win.
