In the women’s J15 quad category, there are a total of 68 crews racing the time trial, all of whom will be aiming for a space in the A- semi-finals. It is worth mentioning that this will be the first national event which the WJ15 cohort will race over 2K.
Last year’s gold medal boat from Maidenhead Rowing Club is in with a very good chance this year and will no doubt be looking to reclaim their title. Both Maidenhead crews will have to see off stiff competition if they wish to challenge for another medal this year. Due to their racing track record I’m sure that Henley Rowing Club will be one to watch out for as they came second in the WJ14 quad last year with a very strong performance over the 1K course. As is the case with many of these athletes, it will be interesting to see how they fare with the jump up to two kilometres of racing. Other crews in this category include boats from Tideway Scullers School, Marlow Rowing Club and Sir William Perkins’s School Rowing Club who all produce quick and tidy crews and will most likely be contenders for the A-B semi-finals spaces.
Overall this is a very competitive category with only 18 spaces in the A,B and C finals. Most crews will be going home having only done the time trial, therefore we should be in for some fast results as everyone will want a second and possibly third race of the day.
