New South Wales Rowing Championships 2025 – Men’s Club Eight Preview

The competition in the club events at the NSW State Championships is always full of grit and determination, and the line-up this year sees no difference. With a number of club events being held amongst the elite and school competitions, it’s an opportunity for the more competitive of the club crews to give their race strategies a solid hit out as they prepare for the National Championships. The only entrants in this category are two crews from Sydney RC, making this an intra-club showdown.

Impressive results across the seasons in the club division from Sydney RC are a sure indication of what awaits spectators ahead of this weekends competition. No doubt are both crews in this race gearing up to provide the best racing possible, and the potential to claim the coveted title of “Best in Club” always proves for some exciting racing. The two crews both hailing from the same club will provide material for an exciting head race as they battle it out for the top spot in this prestigious club program.

Prediction

Whilst both boats are new configurations as we come into the 2024/2025 season, it is hard to turn past the crew of Gursoy, Moloney, McAlpine, Hennessy, Moloney, Burdett, Pursehouse, and Moloney as the likely winners of this head-to-head battle. With competitive results from across the board, the battle will be exceptionally close, but it’s extremely likely these eight rowers will walk away with the gold.
