Taking place at the National Watersports Centre, Nottingham City Regatta is run over two divisions and comprises of a six-lane 2km course. There are three WJ18 crews entered for this race, though their straight final is combined with that of the women’s Band 1 final.
Cantabrigian RC
Though there are less results for the Cantabrigian crew than the other two crews entered, the junior squad seems to have been doing fairly well recently. The WJ18 8+ won their event at Cambridge Winter League, and the women’s junior squad also recorded the fastest time for the W4+ event, a huge success. In addition to this, the WJ18 8+ took 7th place at Schools’ Head of the River Race, placing in the top 10 in the Schools’ 1st 8+ category for the first time in 5 years.
St George’s College BC
St George’s College have also had a good season; the WJ18 8+ came first in the WJ18 eights at Wallingford Head of the River Race, with the WJ18 4+ taking 1st and 2nd places as well. In addition to this, the crew came second in the W8+ at Marlow Spring Regatta, another good achievement.
Latymer Upper School BC
With a set of very impressive results stacking up for this season, Latymer Upper School seem to be going from strength to strength. They most recently won their heat and came third overall in the Women’s School/Juniors at Wallingford Regatta. The squad also performed well at The Scullery – with a silver medal in the WJ18 4x – and at School’s Head of the River, where they took third place in the Girls’ Championship 8s. Additionally, Latymer Upper School came 3rd in the W U23 8+ and 4th in WJ18 8+ at Wallingford HoR, and also put in strong performances at Fuller’s Head of the River Fours, where they came 4th in the W4+ Junior Champ category and also placed well in the two coxless quads entered.
