With just over three weeks to go until the start of the Henley Royal Regatta 2013, all eyes, in the junior world, turn toward the ensuing battle between the top schoolboy eights in the country, as well as abroad. This year is sure to prove a fascinating encounter between the fastest the UK has to offer, in the form of Abingdon, St Edwards and Hampton, against the might of the Australians and semi finalists from last year, Scotch College. Throw in the possibility of Germans and the usual contingent of American powerhouses and we have the possibility of a fascinating competition.
In the build up to this years PE, I will be reviewing each of the main crews and weighing up their chances of success. The entries are due out next week and, until then, I will be unable to properly research the likely contingent of foreign crews but I will attempt to look at the British crews. These crews will be:
Abingdon, Hampton, St Edwards, St Paul’s, Radley.
Abingdon to follow soon.
