Australian rowing has continued to grow year-on-year with more competitors, parents, and supporters at every regatta.
Off the back of our successful launch of JRN racing coverage in 2024, we wanted a way to cover as many regattas around the country as possible, telling the stories of those on the road to the National Championships. With that, RowingDownUnder was born.
The 2025 racing season, has all the ingredients for a phenomenal series of races, with wide-open schools championships, refreshed club and under 21 racing schedules, and new-look state and national teams.
Tune-in to Rowing Down Under for weekly analysis, discussion, and exclusive interviews.
Our Production Team
Chris McCarthy
(Right)
Involved in the sport of rowing since 2012 as an athlete and coach, Chris now finds himself more at home in the finish tower, commentating major Australian regattas since 2019. A journalism student, Chris joined the JRN team in 2024, covering all things Australian rowing. In 2025, Chris and Stuart founded Rowing Down Under in a bid to share the stories of our rapidly growing Australian Rowing community
Stuart John
(Left)
A former journalist and tour guide, Stuart is still telling stories today. He’s swapped the tour bus for the commentary box though, covering major Australian regattas since 2021. He made his World Rowing commentary debut in 2024 and joined the JRN team that same year. You’ll still find Stuart on the water as part of the ACT and para-rowing communities after originally coming across the sport while working as a rowing administrator.
