A note from the Commissioning Editor
Yet again, as it has been with so many times with articles and races this season, I am obliged to write a disclaimer above the article. The cancellation of School’s Head, like with all events that have not take place, will be a disappointment to everyone. This one is more significant, with weather finally being on our side, the community thought we would finally get some good racing and start to put together a season, Coronavirus had other ideas. Anyway, here is the Ch J15 8+ as it would have been if School’s Head happened.
Westminster School
This eight has started its year well winning Hampton Head in early February by nearly 2 seconds over the opposition, which puts them into the mental advantage. It will be interesting to see how much training they have been able to do over the last few weeks and if they still come out victorious.
Shiplake College
This eight from Shiplake College have come third at Hampton Head in early February so I am guessing they will be attempting to place higher at Schools’ Head this year to prove how quick they must be after the long winter training.
Radley College
This Radley eight has placed 4th so far this year at Hampton Head and unfortunately most rowing events have been getting cancelled so that’s all the results I can talk about. But the crew is being chased down the Tideway by Hampton School, so I am sure they will be using them as a reference point throughout the race.
Hampton School
Hampton are chasing their closest opposition, Radley College down the Tideway this year so will be trying to gain some distance on the Radley crew in order to reverse the results from Hampton head in early February where they were 0.2 of a second of the 4th position.
Prediction
I think this will be a close race between these four crews for the top spots closely followed by the others in this category. But it could be a different outcome, it depends who knows how to row the tideway better as it can be a difficult river to navigate without having wash from the crews you are chasing. Good luck all.
