St Ives Rowing Club is situated on the River Great Ouse, in the town of St Ives in Cambridgeshire. The club was founded in 1865 and has a proud history of athletes competing both on the national and international scene. Nonetheless, the club greatly encourages their novices and the juniors. A group of volunteers runs the club, intending to promote rowing in St Ives and the surrounding area.
St Ives has shown great junior success in the past few years. In February 2020, the WJ16 2x won at Peterborough Head, and the Jun 4x- and J15 2x came second and third respectfully. The senior rowers have also done well, and are indeed well travelled! In 2019, they raced in America at the US Masters Championship, placing from 5th to 2nd. St Ives RC alumni have also seen continued success. At the November U23 GB winter assessments, former St Ives Junior, Lauren Maddison placed 8th in the LW1x.
t Ives RC host several events throughout the year; in the summer, St Ives RC host a side-by-side regatta that is highly popular. The ability ranges from novices to seniors, in singles up to eights.
St Ives RC has a friendly and welcoming aura. The club tries to get as many people involved, from all ages with team activities, racing and BBQs! The club is hardworking, committed and they enjoy it!
