JRN are delighted to announce that Helen Taylor of Molesey Boat Club is our Coach of the Year.
Helen’s impact on the Molesey junior squad in the 22/23 season was profound. After a period of under-representation at the business end of junior rowing, Helen’s return to the club prompted a superb year in which the club collected two golds, two silvers and a bronze at the National Schools’ Regatta (a best-ever return) and had two athletes represented at international level (one each at the Coupe de la Jeunesse and World Rowing Junior Championships). To top all of this off, she coached the British junior women’s coxless four to a historic silver medal at the World Rowing Junior Championships. Helen has once again demonstrated why she is one of the country’s foremost rowing minds.
Helen commented: “Improvise, Adapt and Overcome pretty much sums up the season for us at MBC. From the rowers getting used to a new coaching team and training programme to everyone at the club working together to make the most of three months off the water with flooding. The strong performances across the age groups are a testament to the commitment and open-mindedness shown from the whole squad and I couldn’t be more appreciative or thankful for their efforts.“
