JRN are delighted to announce that Leander Club’s Junior Men’s Quad are our Junior Crew of the Year.
Leander had a sensational year, sweeping up all domestic race titles in the junior quad except for the National Schools’ Regatta. Their streak of winning covered all of the key head races – Fours Head, Schools’ Head of the River and the Oarsport Junior Sculling Head – whilst they were also the fastest junior quad at Wallingford, Metropolitan and Marlow Regattas. Finally, they concluded a brilliant season with a dominant display of sculling at Henley Royal Regatta to win the Fawley Challenge Cup.
Jonny Jackson, lead junior coach at Leander Club, commented: “It was a great season for the boys. All eight of them played a very important part in lifting the Fawley Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta. I’d say that’s definitely my highlight of the season as it was a squad goal, not and not just a victory for the A boat. Personally, it’s the best culture I have experienced within a group of athletes and it was a pleasure to be involved with the project.”
