JRN are delighted to announce that Bobby Thatcher is our Coach of the Year.
Bobby has led the St Paul’s School rowing program for over ten years now, culminating in four wins at Henley Royal Regatta and an array of national titles. In 2024, his first eight were unbeaten in junior competition and secured the coveted quadruple of titles at the Head of the Charles, Schools’ Head of the River, National Schools’ Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta. His athletes have gone on to represent Great Britain at several international competitions this summer, including four in the team for the upcoming junior world championships.
Bobby commented: “It wasn’t the easiest season; we had a lot of illness and we struggled to find our form technically. The guys were very good at staying in the moment and taking ownership of their journeys. I think it was due to this collective attitude that things started to click into place for Henley Royal Regatta. To win the big four events in one season was a great achievement – but to see two of our guys win Olympic medals in Paris topped off a special year for us.”
