JRN are delighted to announce that Henry Fieldman is our Cox of the Year.
Henry steered the British women’s eight to a fantastic bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and also led them to a series of strong performances throughout the last Olympiad, including World Rowing Cup and European championship medals. From joining the boat off the back of the Tokyo Olympics – where the crew finished last – his involvement has coincided with a marked improvement in the trajectory of this squad, which culminated in third place in Paris. He is also the first person to win an Olympic medal in both men’s and women’s events, having already secured a bronze in Tokyo with the British men’s eight.
Henry commented: “It’s been the honour of my life to race my second Olympics with the TeamGB women’s eight and reach the podium again. Everyone in the boat plus a whole host of other athletes, coaches and support staff contributed to a performance in Paris which was more than the sum of our parts. I’m very grateful to receive this award from JRN and hope the exploits of our W8+ and M8+ will inspire other young coxes to shoot for Olympic success in the future.”
