JRN are delighted to announce that Wycliffe College Junior Women’s Quad are our Junior Crew of the Year.
Wycliffe set new standards in 2024 as arguably the best-ever junior women’s quad to emerge from the UK. They secured a clean-sweep of major honours across the season, which started with a course record at the Schools’ Head of the River before they also collected victories at the Oarsport Junior Sculling Head, National Schools’ Regatta, Henley Women’s Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta. Another crowning glory came in the form of a remarkable victory over top senior Leander crews at the Metropolitan Regatta to take the elite quads category win.
Greg Flower, Director of Rowing at Wycliffe College, commented: “My favourite moment without a doubt was the Metropolitan Regatta, competing in championship women’s quads. It was great for us to be able to show exactly how fast and exceptional these young women really were. Our success was down to everyone’s investment in the programme over a number of years. For the athletes; a relentless dedication to their passion, appreciation of the journey and a true realisation of what was ahead and possible for them. This was a fantastic crew to coach. We overcame many challenges together and saw much growth as a programme.”
