The New Season at JRN

Watching the spectacular performance of the GB athletes, both senior and junior this summer, it is hard not to be inspired by their commitment to our sport and how spectacularly it paid off when so many of them found themselves on the podium. In light of this, I am sure all the junior athletes in the country have come back into training with full force, and I am very excited to see the racing season ahead, after the bar has set so phenomenally high over the last two years. Our aim at Junior Rowing News this season is to continue to provide the most detailed and comprehensive event previews in the field of junior rowing, while expanding our coverage to support a range of events that we have not been near before thanks to a record number of talented new writers.

Our site format remains unchanged this season, but one of the key changes will be in the variety in articles. Over the coming months you can expect reviews of various coxing products, articles on the struggles of balancing school work and rowing, and more frequent event reviews (among others). We are also looking at making ourselves as accessible as possible to the entire community, so along with sharing our previews on twitter (@juniorrowing), we will also be promoting them through our Instagram account (instagram.com/juniorrowingnews). The Junior Rowing Results resource is still available on the site, providing an effective database for results.

We will be previewing the following events this season:
Wallingford Long Distance Sculls
St Neots Small Boats Head
Pairs Head
Kingston Small Boats Head
Fours Head
Hampton Small Boats Head
Wallingford Fours and Eights Head

We are aiming for full J16-J18 coverage where applicable in most of these events.

I’d like to thank our previous editor Five Man for keeping such a high standard of writing and level of coverage last season, and our publisher Tom for his continued support and guidance for this wonderful platform that he established. This season will bring with it a fantastic mixture of old grudges, new faces and rising stars, and all the writers here will be working hard to provide you with the best coverage possible for the biggest events over the next 10 months. Good luck to everyone!
